He shoved a few more chips down his throat while the TV turned itself on, the news raving about something or other.
Man, if only he could get on the telly.
Or mess with electronics like that.

He dropped the bag and dusted off his fingers as the channel was changed, already guessing what was coming.
He caught the controller, giving it a weird look while he turned it in his hands.

"Yeah, sounds fun.
OH, you mean with this?" he added after a second, snickering to himself.
"Not so sure it can hit as hard as a bat, but...okay."

SHEUT

"course not, its for a virtual corpse-puppet. you hit the other guy with the puppet, and you get spared a few broken bones." Sheut explained as the game loaded up to the start screen. He tossed and caught a second controller, before pushing the start button and scrolling through the stages and picking out battle rules. "you use the joystick to move it around, an' the buttons to attack and defend."

"Pfsh, I know that," he said, not very convincingly.
He'd played that artery-or-whatever-it-was-called before...this controller just had more buttons, is all!
...A lot more buttons.

He watched the game boot up, working his jaw as the first screens came up.
"Shoot, man," he muttered--the people looked like PEOPLE.
Horribly deformed people, perhaps, but people nonetheless.

Damn; this was gon' be fun.
He grinned while waiting for the characters to appear and his chance to kick bandages' virtual ass.

SHEUT

Sheut grinned, enjoying racket's reaction to the game and the graphics. 'Course the people looked like people. Good-ol CGI really worked wonders in games like this one.

First game was a random set, the Arena was a fairly safe one but the computer picked the characters for them. Sheut ended up with a cybernetic girl who was largely fan-service. Racket.. got someone a bit more tough-looking.

"Oh, you're gonna get WRECKED," he laughed.
Buff guy versus some busty gal?
Yeah; that was no contest.

The map "the Arena" booted up on screen, their characters bouncing in their fighting poses (each of which appeared equally exaggerated, which only seemed to widen the gap between who was no doubt the tougher of the two) and handing off a taunt while the countdown began.
Even his character didn't think the lady stood a chance.

3...2...1...FIGHT!

"Racket" started mashing buttons.
He had little to no clue what he was doing, unused as he was not just to the game, its control scheme, and the move set of that particular character, but with the controller itself: besides the multitude of buttons and trying to find out how exactly he was supposed to hold the darn thing, his fingers kept sliding off the weird tiny thumbsticks, which had a smooth full range of motion as opposed to the giant rigid stick of an Atari 2600 or an old arcade machine.
There were plenty of chances for Bandages to be a total dickwad and get in quite a good few hits for the first round while Racket struggled to figure out what exactly it was that he was doing.

SHEUT

Sheut just kept a knowing smile. Racket would soon find out that looks weren't everything in these games.

He began the game ruthlessly, making adept use of the brutal precision the modern controller allowing him to combo in a few good hits.

"whats the matter man? thought you were gonna wreck me." Sheut teased, though the round wasn't over yet.

He snorted, smirking at Bandages' comment.
"Oh, I will," he said.
He was mildly amazed that he was getting beaten so badly, but he didn't want to let even the slightest bit of surprise to show.

Racket soon enough learned the basic attacks--punching and kicking--and how to dodge and shield, finally managing to keep his fingers from sliding off the button every other second.
His character's health was in the red, but by then he'd started dodging and kicking Bandages' behind.
Metaphorically.

He couldn't recover fast enough, and Bandages seemed to know all the good combos.
Racket still got whupped, and at the end of the round flattened his head against the couch with a groan--all in good nature.
He wasn't truly mad...it was only a game, after all.
If Bandages had tossed him to the curb in real life, however, THEN he'd probably be a bit pissed.
Beaten by a mummy...AND a girl.

He leaned forward again as the second countdown began, saying, "Betchu think yerself tough, eh?"

SHEUT

Heh, I was going easy on ya."

As the countdown continued, Sheut smiled knowingly. He hadn't even brought out some of the really wicked plays this game could offer.

FIGHT!

a phone rang.

Sheut changed his grip on the controller so he could play one-handed and check the cell with the other. As long as he wasn't playing 'magic tricks' it did handicap his ability to move the character smoothly for a few moments.

Hopefully he need not answer it.

He still began the fight with an attack move, even if it wasn't the best one he could have chosen, it was still a decent kick.

What...Racket glanced briefly to his side as a phone rang, Bandages changing his grip on the controller to one hand.
The slight handicap was enough for him to gain a bit of an edge, even test out a few new moves as he tried to learn more about the game's combos--or, more likely, accidentally stumble upon them as he continued to try and beat up the lady.
...which he didn't do outside video games
--wait--

Racket snickered as he actually managed to land a spectacular finisher, although the timing was off and it left just enough health for Bandage's character to keep on kicking.

As the round began to come to a close there was a clatter at the window, but, being so close to victory, Racket didn't want to steal a glimpse until after the battle was over.
The clattering continue, and even the smallest of looks towards the glass would reveal that it had started hailing.

SHEUT

Unfortunately it was an important call leaving Sheut handicapped for most of the round.

"Yo."

For a newbie, Racket was managing pretty well this round, didn't have the moves down all right, but certainly was getting the hang of it. Sheut was hard pressed to use his character's agility to its best advantage. Still not every hit was missing its mark. Harder, was coming up with proper retaliation. Half his normal move set was disabled.

"Not Now Its like five in the morning. 'N I've already got company"

He kept an eye on his health numbers, managing to slip in a close save here and there, and specifically picking moves that would win him back some points through combo breaks and knowing how to exploit some of the hit boxes.

"Alright alright, Th' Weather's bad. gimme 30min will ya?" It would be enough time to finish the 3rd round without having hands tied up with anything more than the normal hopefully.

Bam! call over. Time to turn this gig around. He dropped the phone on the couch, resumed a two-handed grip, and began fighting. The time left wasn't quite enough to win, but he managed to close the health gap a bit before the round ended.
