What could go wrong, goes wrong

Once upon a time on Earth, in the year 2XXX, an indeterminate year which is more or less the future... according to some people, the whole scenario took place on the quint city of Zurich. It was his vacation from Sanctuary for now. His home had become a bit... too crowded for his taste, even if it was just Lindy, and he really hated having to go through with heroics when it paid him not a pence for his help. Regardless, he was frolicking up a rooftop, booze in his hand, sipping it. It was Everclear, strong stuff, and he had already emptied out an entire bottle of it -- this was his second. The rooftops in general were a forest of concrete and some other future mixture of cement, and other materials that were too advanced for 2001. Not the year Ajax came from, merely the one he was most familiar with when it came to settings such as these.

The rooftops he was at were more or less uneven. Some were high, some were lower, and there were gaps that were wide, and narrow in distances. For Ajax, it was easy to scale along, merely hopping up casually, even as his buzz got worse when he sipped more of the Everclear liquid Nirvana, that booze flowing down his throat, burning through it and giving him a much needed relief. From behind his sunglasses made by Kishar, he looked onto the hustle and bustle before himself, things that were retro in its futuristic and provincial ways, as many things were automated within this era. On the upside, they had great booze to go around, and Ajax found himself fitting in quite well here. To the locals, he spoke what would have been an antiquated German tongue, outdated by a few decades give or take, whereas the Swiss folks of Zurich had a change of lingo to reflect developments.

But he had felt his time here was coming close to an end, and all he's doing now was cruising across rooftops, hopping and taking a leisurely pace as he looks all around himself for something interesting to see. He was just going to finish his booze before he'd probably hop out of this dimension sooner or later. It was convenient like that.

What comes around, goes around

It had been 4 months since Harry Webb was recovered from the wreckage of a destroyed cruise ship. He had spent those 4 months recovering, and staying off the grid for reasons unknown to him as he had retrograde amnesia. He didn't know he was, or how he is well versed in multiple languages and a skilled fighter. All he had was a number for a bank account in Zürich. A Swiss city. In the hopes of finding out is true identity, he traveled there and made his way to the Gemeinschaft Bank. When he accessed the deposit box tied to the mysterious bank account number, it contained a number of various items. There was about $5,000,000 of various national currencies as well as U.S. money, different passports for various European countries, stuff like a spy would use to disguise himself as another person, and a Heckler and Kosh USP handgun. One of the passports read, "Harry Webb". Of course he took the money, and the passports, as well as the handgun. Harry felt like he was gonna need it wherever he was going to go next.

Now, he's currently living in an apartment that he rented out. He made several gun related purchases and paid for a few different handguns, a couple shotguns, and a few sniper rifles. From that time he started visiting different places during his journey and tracked down a man called Mr. Erik Stevenson. A CIA official who was one of the people who made him into the person he is now. That's why he was sitting on a rooftop on a hot summer afternoon with a sniper rifle. It wasn't like the man or someone else with the know how sent assassins after him and tried to kill him. This is definitely not payback. So, here he is. Sitting on a rooftop. With an Armorlite AR-50 pointing a gun at the sonovabitch who is currently residing in the U.S. Embassy. He had an earpiece in and was listening in on the goings ons in the building. He had pretty much everything else tuned out as he focused on his target and imagining the surprised look on Stevenson's face as he stares at impending death. Harry smirked softly. Let's just hope that everything goes the way it's supposed to and not spirales out of control. Harry didn't want to have to shoot his way out of the city and draw any unwanted attention. That was just bad for business.

Roses are red

He had spotted something peculiar, Ajax had thought. He looked to his empty hand for a bottle that was not there, and then to the peculiar sight in question. He squinted his eyes, long since healed after he had drunken Kishar's wine, and found it still boggling and odd how clear things were... how sharp it was. It was boggling. It invited things he would rather not think about, things he had suppressed, and things he had thought were long past him, but no longer. He frowned, and had wished he had some spare booze with him, but even then, it was an oddity he had never stockpiled on the Devil's Finery. Often they were procured on site, bought then, and relieved ofi t that instantly. Short sightedness that would not befit someone of his stature, Ajax noted with a snort.

Nonetheless, he ruminated back to the odd sight in itself. A man. His hair was so fine, it almost seemed to gleam blue in the day sky, wielding a weapon that would be antiquated in many other places, and is far more innovative and technological than many more. There was never a standard in this case, he drunkenly noted, as he leaped on over from another rooftop before dropping down from behind this Harry Webb. His footsteps silent, instinct and practice had made him long acquainted to the motions, even as he were in this drunken state. Silent as he were, his presence negligible, Ajax approached this lone sniper from behind and stopped there, staring and listening as he squinted his eyes to see what it was this sniper was observing.

Not a single peep nor word escaped his lips, as he found himself bored, and in want of some attention before he leaves this place. It's not like this would come back to bite him in the ass... right?

Violets are blue

Harry focused on his target, ready to pull the trigger. If he was gonna go through with this, he had to get over with it soon. He shifted a little and flexed his trigger finger. He was going through the prepatory breathing when he caught a whiff of something unpleasant smelling. Alcohol most likely. It was fairly recent.  'What the hell? There shouldn't be anyone up here', Harry thought to himself. He looked down from the scope and did a check on his weapon. He pulled out the magazine and found it full. Disregarding the alcohol smell, he slapped the magazine in, chambered a round. He looked down the scope again. It looked like his target was about finished with his discussion. He hada silencer on the weapon, and there's the added bonus of being 2.43 kilometers away. No one woupd hear the shot coming until it was too late.

He breathed in, catching another whiff of alcohol, and breathed out, pulling the trigger. The suppressed shot flew out the barrel with a flash and went on it's way. Harry watched as Stevenson was about to walk out the door when his head snapped to the side, blood and brain matter splattering the wall on his right. In his earpiece, he could hear people screaming and yelling in shock at the sudden death. 'Yup. Time to get out of here. But first, I'll deal with the interloper behind me', Harry thought. He pulled the earbuds out and lifted the rifle. He switched it around so he could use the butt of the weapon as a melee weapon, and attempted to strike the drunk fool. He intended to get rid of him, hide the body somewhere, and probably clear out the country entirely. He got what he came for. But there's still a long way to go.

All my base are belong to you

Ajax blinked. Something was wrong, really wrong. He flexed his fingers briefly and experimentally to check it out, but for some reason, it seemed an odd throw of fate had forced him to come across this impasse. For one can see that he had felt a magical pull towards the others. It was not his dimension hopping, but it was something connecting with him. Greaaaaaaaaat, it had meant something had taken interest in him, and had decided to try to yank him towards its dimension. It happened once in a while, sure, usually an ex-girlfriend or the like wanted to drag him over to another dimension, but as long as he does not get distracted, or lose his focus, then it'll alllll be fine. Worst comes to worst, he can just redirect the dimension hopping elsewhere, but... usually that came out with weird results. There was a reason why he looked in his 40's rather than his 30's or even late 20's. It was because of this damn fluctuation that came up from time to time! Ah booze, his one solace to keep him grounded was with him, probably.

Still, he was impressed at the sight of the sniper rifle, almost suppressing a snort. One thing was for certain, a suppressor would have really reduced the range on a rifle, as well as the fact it didn't really silence the gun, merely reduce the sound. In truth, there were only a few truly silent weapons in this modern type cycle of the world, but whatever it was, he sipped out of his bottle before stuffing it into his coat when closing the lid. Perhaps the sniper was sniping someone from closer ranges? Who knows? Who cares? He was just here for the show as he tried to control this attempts to dimensionally pull him elsewhere. Boom de loom.

He snorted at the shot, before figuring this might be a time where high powered shots and recoil mitigation were the norm. Whichever the case, he shrugged it off, having seen what he had wanted to see, and had figured this would be a good time to leave... just as long as he doesn't lose his concentration, everyyyyything will just be allllriiight. Yep, what are the odds of that? Him losing concentration?

He thought that too soon because the maniacal sniper rifle tried with his impressive (though not exactly on par speed), try to whack Ajax up the head.

Admirable effort, and Ajax WAS drunk, but discipline (as hilarious and unlikely as that sounded) combined with reflex memories, he had instinctively pull his flask out, arresting the momentum of the rifle butt by stilling it with his flask's own sole. Ajax didn't realize what he had done until it's too late, but soon, his concentration broke as he found himself startled at this reflex of his and the sudden attack, and soon... the two would be consumed by a portal.

"SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!" The drunken Planeswalker cursed out, taken to the boundary realms, typically the shortcut he uses lazily whenever he is going into another dimension. He can directly go into another dimension himself, sure, but this was easier. Still, he had to wrestle with his concentration to make sure whatever was trying to pull him did not succeed. Often enough it was an enemy, or someone who had wanted to bring him to a fatal dimension like the plane of fire. A Kaleidoscope of colours would swirl around the pair, to the uninitiated, make it look like a drug trip, but soon, Ajax concentrated enough to bring another portal towards a place he had memorized as 'home' for now.

He landed on his feet and checked himself immediately for any changes, as he had landed on a wide swathe of tall grass plain. That grass field was wide, and it was night time, but otherwise he wasn't changed... he was so glad for that. Mishaps like these are always a pain in the ass to get around, but hey! At least he got out of this dimension hopping incident without much of a problem.

What went unremarked is what had happened to his possible companion. He dusted himself off as he shrugged.

"Ah... at least I stopped that whacko from ruining a nice day with a fistful of quick thinking!" The Planeswalker chuckled, stretching.
